Two months after the opening of the Estonian Pavilion at the 61st Venice Biennale, we look back through the analogue lens of photographer Silver Mikiver. His portraits of Merike Estna, together with quiet observations from the opening days in Venice, capture the atmosphere of a project where contemporary art and fashion became inseparable.

Created in close collaboration with Estna, the Lilli Jahilo collection forms an integral part of The House of Leaking Sky. Throughout the exhibition, Estna paints live in front of visitors, wearing the collection as part of the work itself. Conceived as an extension of the artist’s practice rather than a costume, the collection explores presence, strength and intentional femininity through sculptural silhouettes, signature collars inspired by Estna, and a restrained palette punctuated with deep red.

Shot entirely on analogue film, Mikiver’s photographs embrace the softness, texture and imperfections of the medium, preserving not only the opening itself but also the fleeting moments between them. They offer an intimate glimpse into the beginning of a collaboration that continues to unfold throughout the Biennale.
